April Allterior's light weight shade structure: Shangrila

Love this clever light weight structure by April Allterior, an emerging brand based in Germany. At 3600 euros it is an investment piece but a flexible one. It just takes 2 people to set it up and take down. The sun roof is available in 7 colors including black, beige, red and orange. Pavillion

The most straightforward parasol system in the world

It opens and closes as a fan offering several advantages:

- very straightforward to open and close

- can be installed at a limited height creating a more intimate atmosphere and more shadow

- no technical components obstruct the view

Outdoor furniture with 1920's twist: Moroso's Shadowy Chair deckchair and Sunny Longer sunbed

Brilliant find by Reflexdeco: 'The Shadowy Chair deckchair and Sunny Longer sunbed have shapes that evoke the beach furniture found at the North Sea in Northern Europe in the twenties, become contemporary by the use of digitally drawn colour patterns and woven by expert African craftsmen using coloured plastic threads. The structure is in steel, with a robust shape.

Shadowy has curious ruffles in the end parts, in the armrests and backrest that turn into a parasol cover.

In Sunny Longer the same ruffles become a comfortable headrest. The colored patterns are obtained by the weaving of four colours.

Three versions are offered, one with three tones of green and blue, one with red, orange brown and yellow and the other with brown, white, pink and green.

Solar light parasol : Studio G spots proof a revolution is happening

Fellow blogger Rochelle Greayer  has spotted THE ultra cool solar design

' The SunShade has taken the generally poorly executed concept of solar lights for the landscape and revolutionized it. It is a shade by day and a light source at night. Automatically responding to light conditions to make the transformation, these solar powered lights are excellent for a hotel pool area or outdoor restaurant.
Creator, Lianne Genugten describes the design on her website:

The flexible solar cells in the cover of the parasol collect energy from the sun. As the sun goes down the shade transforms into a lampshade and brings light during the night. By means of sensors, the SunShade opens and closes automatically.

Like a mechanical flower, it reacts to day and night.

I wish I could figure out how to upload the little video of the change from garden shade by day to funky landscape lamp by night but I am struggling… so you must visit her site to see the video of the change .'

Shade sails get individual, creative and fun with Coro

Coro- Remember when shade came from a parasol or...a parasol? Designers are really having a great time creating more fun, creative and often individualistic shade solutions. Shade sails started out huge and spectucular and have slowly become very small and mobile.
This new design by CORO is such a great example of this.
