Magali Bergon's poetic outdoor flooring : let it grow!

By magali bergon   Young French designer Magali Bergon says LET IT GROW !

She has developed a paving which lets grass grow between the slabs but with help of 'chips' in each slab. You can organise the slabs as wished to create a personal pattern.

It is an interesting design  that promotes 'natural growth' as a value even in urban environment .

...A far cry from the decades gone by where tidy design was THE must.

Magali : more creative patterns soon?

Application are for private homes too.

Outdoor carpets - a growing category

2007010685a The winner of the RED DOT award 2007 in the outdoor category was a carpet. Yes, a carpet by http://www.carpetsign.nl/
My guess is that it is the concept as well as the design that motivated the jury. In any event it is a great sign that designers are broadening the options for the outdoor deco addict.

You can also see other examples at http://www.sabz.fr/recherche_mobilier/type/tapis.html
or at Paola Lenti ( for great colors and matching furniture. A category star!)

About atlantique:'One of the tendencies of our current lifestyle is a shift in activities from indoors to outdoors. The Atlantique carpet has been developed for “outdoor cocooning” with a Mediterranean touch. The

material is water-repellent, UV-resistant and antibacterial. Made of synthetic fibre, a transparent coating surrounds the coloured core of each fibre string. The Atlantique outdoor carpet is available with both cut and uncut pile. The 30-mm cut reflects light and stimulates the sole of the foot. A sober-looking loop pile 16 mm long conveys a rolling impression underfoot. Owing to the softness and elasticity of both cut versions, the pile always reverts to its straight-up position. With these diverse properties, the carpet can be used in pool environments, on terraces, balconies and patios, as well as on boat decks, in wellness centres and professionally used indoor areas.
