Sorry, but this is quite not true : green roofs are coming big, with cities incorporating them more and more in their development plans, and giving incentives. The total areas of green roofs planted within these past few years is HUGE, especially in Europe.

Now, if you want to make your own, it is not that expensive that only the rich can afford, especially when you consider that the green roof will help your roof waterproofing last 30-50 yrs instead of 10-20, and that you will save a lot on your energy bill.

Not even mentioning an increased quality of life . . .
