EMPTY outdoor light is a sculptural lightscaper as well as a seat /low table

2005-12-0695-b[1]  Love this outdoor garden light that has lightscaping value and unsurprinsingly won a Red Dot award! It can also be used as seat or table... and be fitted with a series of color alternatives.[More lighting options  HERE, Outdoor garden and patio lighting]

By Josep Lluís Xuclà for DAB, Barcelona, Spain
'Empty is an outdoor light and the first in a series of lamps in different sizes. It has a metal structure and is available in rust or silver. The light source is a TC-F 1x36W 2G10, which provides indirect light. Empty is more than a simple light source, it is a sculpture with a variety of applications, which can be used as a seat to relax or in a group as a table. As such, it has a very pleasant light. Furthermore, the light can be filtered by different colours to emphasise certain zones or serve as a guiding light.

Empty has been designed for use in a natural surrounding.

The rust variant integrates completely into all kinds of gardens.

'Inside the green room' - UK garden designers- create a social hub around a fire-pit

DSCF1807I am in total shock over the events in India and feel it even more important we value calm, loving surroundings that we are very privileged to enjoy!

I found this great outdoor fire-pit designed by http://www.insidethegreenroom.co.uk
... they designed this outdoor space [as others they to their credit] with a real sense of gathering.

My grand parents and my  mother were interior designers and forged my view on what is good decorating.I believe its ultimate value is not to show of money or means or even trendiness but to make your place one people will be happier in.

http://www.insidethegreenroom.co.uk   deliver on that and that is great.

Acrylic Outdoor paintings by Dutch artist Hugo Post

Just discovered Fueradentro : ' a young design furniture label based on the Prinsengracht canal in Amsterdam. A city where progressive attitudes go hand in hand with its rich cultural traditions.' They have 3 lines of outdoor furniture plus an interesting-if not revolutionary- line of outdoor 'art'.

Bloom by Hugo Post are outdoor paintings, handpainted acrylic on waterproof mdf.A three dimensional bouquet of roses, each individually hand painted . The BLOOM collection paintings are equally suitable for exterior or interior use. Painted using acrylic paste, which is resistant to any kind of European weather.

Available in different shades, the paintings are a limited edition and are individually numbered.

Kids gardens : tree houses redefined by Nocturnal Design lab

As the X mas season comes closer, the question of gifts creeps up! Unless you are a very fortunate big bonus banker [hmmm] the 'urban tree  house' below may be a bit expensive but it is an idea: why not up the game in the garden and make it a better paradise for the kids? I was at the beautiful LIBERTY store in London over the week-end and saw great books about very accessible treehouses.

This variation seen on Mocoloco.com

'+ The fourx4 playground playscape designed by Nocturnal Design Lab at eye candy. "Conceived as a suburban tree house (where the landscape is often devoid of large trees), four x 4 becomes an abstraction of nature on multiple levels.".'

New garden design? BBC's says :get ready for the reverse make-over

You know change is becoming maistream when the BBC decides to dedicate a series in prime time on the issue...

And that is what the BBC is doing with the new show : Get Wild about your garden [trailer here]

It is about making the urban garden space wild again, unsophisticated and full of creepy crawlies!

I am of those who strongly believe cows and mini farms are coming back to cities!

New series, in which Nick Knowles attempts to give urban spaces a reverse makeover. The team meets Betty from Crayford, who cannot understand why she never sees butterflies these days. She has put up bird feeders, but has failed to attract any feathered friends. In fact, she misses wildlife so much that she has gathered a menagerie of plastic animals to fill the gap.

Breathing Places is a major BBC Learning campaign to inspire and motivate you to create and care for nature-friendly green spaces where you live.  6a00d83451b60269e2010534d3402e970c-800wi[1]
