King goes green : how Carl Gustav wants his garden to do more

I am sure you will be fascinated to learn I am half swedish ;-0!... So I had to share recent news of a new recruit to the green cause: The swedish king ! He has plans to make his garden work towards this:

Go green – the King says so!

September 23, 2008 Posted by: Paul Lucas

There have been some fairly high profile green campaigners over the years - from Cameron Diaz to Larry David - however, their words of encouragement hardly come close to a royal seal of approval.

Yet King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden has caught the green bug, actively reducing his own carbon emissions and urging Americans in particular to “think twice” about climate change.

The monarch is appearing stateside to promote Swedish green technology and is happy to boast that he drives an ethanol-fuelled Volvo and hopes to start small-scale biofuel production at his farm outside Stockholm. In an interview with the US media he spoke whimsically about his “dream” to build a small biogas plant at the bottom of his garden just using manure from his cattle.

The King, who will be in America from Wednesday-Saturday, will attend energy seminars and a ground breaking ceremony for a biogas plant in Flint, Michigan.

When speaking to the media, the King expressed the importance of Americans taking the global warming issue more seriously - and the need for everyone to work together to solve the problem.
