Blofield, inflatable outdoor furniture maker

For 350 pounds you can buy an inflatable Chesterfield to install in a garden or outdoor space. http://www.design-conscious.co.uk/mall/designconscious/products/product-815905.stm

They are made out of the same stuff as life rafts... seems appropriate in this day and age !

Make your garden an exercise and de-stress zone

One terrible problem with not being an office worker is that I probably have far too much time to read the news ...and these days its...a bit stressful.
I would need this LED punching ball ... to bash it up on the terrace!

You hit - it lights up!

King goes green : how Carl Gustav wants his garden to do more

I am sure you will be fascinated to learn I am half swedish ;-0!... So I had to share recent news of a new recruit to the green cause: The swedish king ! He has plans to make his garden work towards this:

Go green – the King says so!

September 23, 2008 Posted by: Paul Lucas

There have been some fairly high profile green campaigners over the years - from Cameron Diaz to Larry David - however, their words of encouragement hardly come close to a royal seal of approval.

Yet King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden has caught the green bug, actively reducing his own carbon emissions and urging Americans in particular to “think twice” about climate change.

The monarch is appearing stateside to promote Swedish green technology and is happy to boast that he drives an ethanol-fuelled Volvo and hopes to start small-scale biofuel production at his farm outside Stockholm. In an interview with the US media he spoke whimsically about his “dream” to build a small biogas plant at the bottom of his garden just using manure from his cattle.

The King, who will be in America from Wednesday-Saturday, will attend energy seminars and a ground breaking ceremony for a biogas plant in Flint, Michigan.

When speaking to the media, the King expressed the importance of Americans taking the global warming issue more seriously - and the need for everyone to work together to solve the problem.

News about Starck's mini wind home turbine

Recently Philippe Starck has brought an amazing idea for renewable wind energy to life through a sleek new mini wind turbine called ‘Democratic Ecology’.

I checked up on it as it was due out in sept 08 ...well this is the news from the producer:

'The Darrieus H-shape Aeolian generator showed in Milan, last season, is a prototype, designed by Philippe Starck. It will be a product “made in France”, realized and distributed to start next spring (april/may).
We cannot anticipate price but it will be very interesting and competive. Dimensions will be: from 50x50 cm up to 3,8x3,8 m and powers: 150,400,1000,3000,5000W.'

Demeco1-1
Spotted on Inhabitat: Philippe Starck’s personal invisible windmill ‘Democratic Ecology’ was introduced at Milan’s Greenergy Design show earlier this year in a vibrant display relaying the intent to enable every man, woman and child on Earth to generate their own power in designer style. The transparent mini-turbine will be available to all in September 2008 and, in typical Starck style, if everyone’s going to have one he’s going to make sure they all look great.

Posting about Golf as Seve Ballesteros gets out of hospital

I had no inspiration today until I heard Seve Ballesteros- THE golf champion- was out of hospital after being treated for cancer. He is one of those guys in a league of his own ...who makes mankind great :so all the best Seve and the aspiring Seve's who train and train : a re-post about home set ups:

'Not that I find the situation amusing at all ( specially that ordinary people will pick up the bill for the overpaid bankers who failed us!) ... But I like the idea of making outdoor space work harder and offer not just 'beauty' but also activities for all.

So to show I am not spitefully towards the ex Lehmanners etc ... I will share this find: golf practice at home!

Pretend you live in Lapland : Moo Wall Lamp by Trond Svendgård & Ove Rogne.

Moo_wall[1]

A cheeky twist on the traditional wall-mounted moose head - the Moo Wall Lamp by Trond SvendgÃ¥rd & Ove Rogne.

Thankfully, no animals have been harmed in the making of this light fitting, the designers have made a replica of a moose's head that can actually be used both indoors and outdoors - thanks to its poly-resin construction.

It is sized at 75 x 75cm and available for pre-order, priced around £740.

Not sure about the design but thought I 'd update you on yet another new idea for outdoor relaxing/entertaining: a dvd/tv integrated in a tub!

'For a sleek exterior, the TV auto-stores and –rises from a protected compartment integrated into the spa wall. Connect an antenna or cable/satellite system, and you’re ready for movie night or the Big Game!

Tv[1]

Choose optional 6” stationary speakers, or our 6” pop-up speakers, available on some spa models.

For the ultimate home theater experience in your Outdoor Home Resort Spa, check out the industry’s only spa to feature a 42” auto-rising plasma TV with surround sound – our Galaxy Entertainment GX49 Spa. '
