Replace your ivy by this radical new solar/wind power system

Liam, a reader , kindly sent me this spectacular find:

'GROW is a hybrid energy delivery device that provides power via the sun and wind, and draws inspiration from ivy growing on a building' It is seen in avant garde MOMA.

Sqishoflage your TV dish

Gardens and outdoor spaces sometimes have like a wart : the view of a hideous sat dish So the solution is a camouflage !

'You can make your Sqish even more discreet by adding a sqishoflage sticker. Take a picture of the location where the Sqish will be sited and we will supply a UV-stable matt finish sticker for you to attach. '

The Tower by eco smart : j'adore

Love this new design by eco smart. To see just how spectacular it is please pop over to http://www.gala.fr/lifestyle_de_star/deco/dernieres_tendances/la_lumiere_au_jardin_128675

as I could not copy the photo. It is very tall and quite a feature:

'The Tower was inspired by the ‘Padella Romana’, a distinctive lighting feature used in the entrances of wealthy Patrician family residences to symbolise status during the Roman Empire.

The Tower is visually striking with its elevated flame atop of a solid plinth, and is ideal for both domestic and commercial applications – at the entrance of hotels and restaurants, flanking a beautiful villa, around garden and swimming pool/alfresco areas, or inside a home.;1863577377tower_bar[1]

Think about your garden as an energy source

Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves...

That type of logic applies to planet saving too. Solar power is free. And now you can get on the band wagon with even the tiniest baby steps such as getting your phone or ipod recharged by solar energy.

Be a city wind farmer says New York mayor

The mayor of New York has green dreams and refuses the NIMBY ( not in my back yard !) attitude...He wants wind farming to be done on all roof tops in NY city.

The idea of off grid home production is gaining traction: be prepared : wind farming WILL be in our garden soon ...as designs evolve and will certainly miniaturize.

Below is an example I found of a dutch version of a wind turbine designed to be 'attractive'...A sign of things to come.

Rain, water and what to do

I found this video from the World Water Week : Nestle chairman discusses water and what is going on in this field.

Water is related to this blog as I featured waterhogs, rain gardens etc.. and if you go for a very design garden you will have less plants. It lies with each of us to decide if and how to deal with issue.

Hot tubs/spas : a great example on arch daily

Outdoor spas/hot tubs are not very attractive design wise.

The trick is to set them up in a way that flatters them.

Spotted this great example : http://www.archdaily.com/4806/dolomites-house-jm-architecture
