Mirrors or not? If so - go for JM Massaud's 'Fiction' award winning creation

Fiction11Last week, I was discussing the use of mirrors outdoors with a very delightful lawyer in London. I promised to make a recommendation...I must admit that on the whole I find mirrors are quite a cheap design idea for gardens. The only exception that springs to mind is the use of antiqued ones by award winning designer Sarah Price at last years Chelsea Flower show.
And as luck has it just today the excellent Design Addict Blog featured Jean- Marie Massaud's new creation. So straight off their blog ( with an invitation to visit them too!) here is my find today:

'This series of mirrors designed by Jean-Marie Massaud for Glas Italia are made in extralight glass with degrading shaded silvering. They hang on the wall with a chromium-plated metal cylinder. The small mirror can have a degrading shade upwards or downwards
Fiction mirrors won Interior Innovation Award Cologne in the category Materials at IMM Cologne 2008.'

Louis hits a chord at Heals

Louisrange_m1Well, yes a trendy theme is 'baroque is back'. I'll follow that - however wrong the labeling!

Following the success of its Louis lacquered tables a special outdoor version has been designed for Heal's in galvanised steel with a zinc finish.

E-mood planters, poufs, cubes ...the list is getting longer

I have just discovered that e-mood is a fashionable term in design today.

It refers to the ability to use IT devices and technology to adapt the decor to your mood. This includes LED remote controlled objects that change color on request .Of course top of the list is the very chic cube by Viteo . On the 'planter' front last year I'd seen the New York Square planters .

And today I discovered the over sized planters at The White Hotel on line store. The Garden has 'e-mood'...maybe estate agents will write this on their home descriptions

By day a charmingly designed planter, in the evening an attractive lighting feature for house, garden or office. There is a choice between a NIGHT LIGHT model with white energy-saving bulb and a NIGHT LED model with colourful LED lighting and remote control. Can be used in the countries participating in the ENEC agreement: main voltage 220-240 V, 50-60 Hz.
