I have been trying to find design outdoor fireplaces and finally found the hidden gem at Maison et Objet.

WellWell is a new concept in outdoor showers. The 'jets' of the WellWell push the water up to head height. WellWell is made from hardwood and aluminium and can only be described as a "mini minimalist" design piece.

In 2008 at the Meuble Paris fair this new shade sail won the jury's vote for Best discovery.
Rimbou's designer
Pieter Willemyns has created a totally flexible solution to enjoy the shade. Its design allows one to easily change its orientation to follow the sun. It is easy to set up and dismount. Love it!

Perhaps not a design revolution but quite the sort of outdoor furniture one could well imagine on a fresh youthful urban balcony and worth checking out : a set of steel items including planters, low tables, stools@ http://www.petermclisky.com.au/steelproducts.html

STEEL FURNITURE:
The steel furniture range is intended for use indoors or out. All of
the pieces are powder coated over a zinc underlay to prevent rusting.
It is important to note that darker colours are normally less UV
resistant than pale.
I pinched this post from www.Shedworking.co.uk - THE guide to the outdoor room used as an office:
'OFT, a transformable house from Sand &
Birch Design is a modular system for building houses but could work just as
easily as a standalone garden office at home... 'Says the author. More at Shedworking
Not sure its has the design crispiness on the Box showcased a few days ago, but still an amusing find for gardens!
Just love this pure design by outdoor specialist furniture designers Gandia Blasco . Great for a night out in the garden Available on line at www.sabz.fr for a mere 8000 odd euros if you get the complete set ( tipi and pillows).
Already present last year, even via contemporary chic niche brands such as Jonathan Stockton, high back benches are emerging strong in the catalogs of major brands.Sign of the times the Canasta series by Patricia Urquiola for B&B Italia
includes just such a design.
At
Maison et Objet, EMU has once again shown it has seriously upped its design ambitions.
Now working with the celebrated designer Patricia Urquiola it has refreshed some of its own designs from the 50's.
And I guess they were right to do so: every design conscious blog has relayed this new set of outdoor furniture with a wide set of superlatives... and so has The New York times.
In an interview, Emu's spokesperson mentioned the important point that a successful 'outdoor '/garden brand is in fact a successful in /out brand capable of providing a seamless design set for in and outside. That is a point many brands will be eager to work on !
Fire places are hot ( trend wise) and water features are known for their general hideousness ( ?)
Well, I am grateful to UK's Grand Designs for having short listed Firefeatures in the annual review of the best designs out there ... However I really think the fire bowl they showcased is the least interesting of the company's totally amazing offer : please hop over and view the site! Click here
