Life after teak and aluminium: the particular charm of zinc

C1000011Maybe it is because I am a 'parisienne' at heart ... and Paris roof tops are zinc clad...anyway, whatever the reason I love zinc furniture.

I came across http://www.pietheineek.nl/. He has a range of garden furniture in wood but what I love is this table.

In terms of use, Zinc is robust, ages beautifully. Just avoid putting it in the hottest spot.

Lighting liberated by Viteo

Zoe_4I was at the House and Garden Fair a week or so ago and saw more Viteo products on the Chelsea gardener stand. They really deserve the awards they keep winning : the quality, the line and the design twist they bring to each and every product can only earn them more!

Today I received their press release about Zoe, a free standing outdoor light :

'ZOE - developed by VITEO’s  head designer Wolfgang Pichler in association with Austrian lighting designer Robert Steinböck - is a solar outdoor lamp that makes staying outdoors an even more enjoyable experience. A cylindrical lampshade made of opal acrylic glass has been mounted on top of a 185 cm high metal rod coated with structural powder. The base consists of a mounting plate which can also be screwed fast to any subsurface near the property, for example, if so desired. A further available option features a spit implanted into the ground.Forget about cables and plugs – simply set up the lamp in your garden or on your patio. Thanks to carefully adjusted photovoltaic elements and white LEDs you’ll have light for reading outdoors for up to seven hours in the evening.

Seen at the House and Garden Fair in London: new planter collection by Bronzino

Charlotte_street_hotel1I just discovered the brand behind the planters one sees at the uber chic and trendy Charlotte Street Hotel in London : Bronzino™ . They design hand made planters crafted from solid sheets of copper for outdoors or indoors. http://www.bronzino.co.uk

Each of the designs illustrated is available to order: in any quantity and in any of the four patinas or a natural polished finish. The traditional patinas give each container a unique colour which will be enhanced through time.

Openings are provided in the base to allow free drainage. The planters are strong yet light.

This makes shipping and positioning easy. They are perfect for roof gardens and terraces. Urchin_011Anemone_011_3Urchin_031
